What We Did
This 1905 home in the heart of Strathcona was in dire need of a structural and cosmetic upgrade.
The pain points with this home were a very low basement, enclosed small rooms on the main floor, and insufficient bedrooms or bathrooms on the upper floor. Tanya Maclean of Mango Design helped create a space to meet the needs of a growing active family, including a full-height basement with a new foundation, a rear three-story addition, an open concept floor plan, three well-proportioned bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and vaulted ceilings on the upper floor. To maintain the existing charm and character of the home, we retained the siding and windows on the front facade and the original staircase and banister from the main to the second floor. Everything else was upgraded, strengthened, or replaced to create a state-of-the-art home that will last another 100 years.
