What We Did

Our clients built this home in 2008, and because of FSR restrictions, they could only develop half of the basement footprint, so they built the basement as a guest suite with a bedroom, small living room, and bathroom.

Over time, circumstances and program requirements for homes change. Fast forward to present day, and the basement is now a space for their adult son and his creative pursuits. This meant that the two separate spaces for the bedroom and living room were too small by themselves, so we installed a new structural beam and opened the space up. Theres now plenty of room to hang out, create, and have fun in this moody basement space.
