Vancouver Condo Renovations
Can You Renovate a Condo?
Before any condo owner starts knocking down walls and renovating their property, it is important for the property owner to consult with their strata board. All strata boards know what homeowners can and cannot do. Communicating with the board and your renovation specialist can help prevent unnecessary delays or unnecessary stress during your renovation project.
Why Renovate a Condo?
As with any project, it is important to know what you want to get from your renovation project. For example, are you looking to increase the property’s value? Or are you looking to make your space more livable? Answering these questions is quintessential to deciding how extensive the condo project could be. For example, if you want to increase the property’s value prior to selling it then it’s possible that the renovation will be more extensive—for example you might look at adding a guest bathroom or tearing down a non-supporting wall.
However, if you’re just aiming to make the space more livable, then your project will likely be less extensive—like adding pot lighting or moving a doorway. Working with a general contractor that’s experienced will help you come up with your renovation project plan.
Condo Renovation Examples
At Etheridge Renovation, we have worked on a number of condo renos in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. One of our most favourite condo renovations was this Yaletown penthouse renovation in Vancouver. This project allowed us to install climate adaptive Smart Glass and remote window treatments that provided privacy while still allowing the central atrium to be bathed in light. We also installed custom walnut cupboards in the kitchen renovation as well as the bathroom remodelling. The walnut wood doesn’t only provide a beautiful backdrop from the breakfast bar, it also adds texture against the contemporary and clean-looking white walls. We can help those who are needing to renovate their condo building in:
- Port Coquitlam
- Port Moody
- Fraser Valley including Maple Ridge, Langley, and Abbotsford
